We asked AI about 108 Billerica businesses.
In October 2026 we asked an AI assistant (Claude) who to hire, the way a customer would, for 108 local businesses in Billerica. The other numbers below are for the whole study, across all three towns.
Read the studyThe three towns are Billerica, Somerville and Andover, plus one business in Derry, NH. We don't report results town by town, and we don't name the local businesses that were left out.
AI mostly named the big brands.
Across all three towns in our study, most answers went to national brands and franchises, not the shop down the street. These came up most:
The four gaps we found most · study-wide
97% had no LocalBusiness schema
58 of 60 were missing the bit of code that tells Google and AI your name, phone, hours and area.

105 of 114 didn't show the same name, address and phone on their website and directories.
81% had no simple FAQ answers
103 of 127 didn't answer the common questions customers ask, where AI could read them.
74% had a vague page title
90 of 121 had a homepage title that didn't say what they do and where.

When a pipe bursts in North Billerica or the heat quits in Pinehurst, most people don't type a company name. They search "plumber near me", or ask their phone "Who's the best plumber in Billerica?", and call one of the two or three names that come back. The assistant has to decide which businesses actually work in Billerica, and it can only go on what it can find written down.
"Near me" means near the customer
Route 3 runs right through town, and Route 129 and Boston Road (Route 3A) carry a lot of local trips. Plenty of the businesses Billerica people hire are based next door, in Chelmsford, Tewksbury, Burlington, Bedford, Wilmington or Lowell. That's fine, as long as AI can tell you cover Billerica. If your profile and website only mention the town your shop is in, a customer five minutes away may never hear your name.
"Who's the best plumber in Billerica?"
"…in Billerica, Competitor A and Competitor B are well reviewed and serve the area. Competitor C also covers nearby Chelmsford and Tewksbury…"
Say which towns you serve
AI pieces together where you work from the service area on your Google Business Profile, the towns named on your website and your listings, and what customers write in reviews. If you work in Billerica, Chelmsford, Bedford and Lowell, say so in all of those places: set the towns on your profile, add a page or a short section on your site, and answer "Which towns do you serve?" in a plain FAQ. Only list towns you really cover. It doesn't help to stretch it, and customers notice.
What we'd check first
Whether your profile lists Billerica and the towns around it, whether your name, address and phone match everywhere, and whether your homepage title says what you do and where, like "Plumber in Billerica, MA". These are small fixes, and they're the ones we found missing most often in our study. Search and AI results change; we show you exactly what we did and what moved.

Do you work with businesses in Billerica?
Yes. We're a small team based in Massachusetts, and we help local service businesses across Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, including Billerica and the towns around it.
Do I need an office in Billerica to show up?
Not necessarily. AI and Google look at where you say you work: the service area on your Google Business Profile, the towns on your website and your listings. If you serve Billerica from a town nearby, say so clearly in those places. Nobody can promise AI will name you, but being clear about where you work is a basic first step.
Can you check what AI says about my business in Billerica?
Yes, for free. Our free AI visibility check asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your customers in Billerica ask, and shows you whether you're named and how many competitors come up instead. Your score shows up in about a minute.
How long until AI starts naming my business?
There's no guarantee it will. Profile and listing fixes usually show within a few weeks, and AI answers catch up in several weeks to a couple of months. We re-check every month and show you exactly what we did and what moved.
